Overview
CF3M is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy listed under ASTM A351/A351M, engineered for pressure-containing components such as valves, flanges, and fittings. It is the low-carbon, molybdenum-bearing cast equivalent of wrought grade 316L stainless steel, offering excellent resistance to corrosion and reduced susceptibility to sensitization. The inclusion of molybdenum enhances pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, making CF3M especially suitable for chloride-rich or aggressive chemical environments. Its low carbon content (<0.03%) helps prevent carbide precipitation, making it ideal for applications requiring superior weldability and corrosion resistance in welded structures. CF3M is commonly used in the chemical processing, pharmaceutical, and marine industries.
