Overview
CF8C is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy specified under ASTM A351/A351M, designed for pressure-containing parts that operate at elevated temperatures. It is similar in composition to CF8 but includes a niobium (columbium) addition for improved high-temperature strength and creep resistance. CF8C offers good oxidation resistance and mechanical stability under thermal cycling, making it well-suited for applications such as heat exchanger components, petrochemical processing equipment, and exhaust manifolds. The alloy’s enhanced high-temperature properties make it a preferred choice where both corrosion resistance and strength retention at elevated service temperatures are essential.
