Overview
CF3M is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy defined by ASTM A744/A744M, designed for corrosion-resistant service in demanding industrial environments. It is the low-carbon, molybdenum-bearing version of CF8M and is compositionally equivalent to wrought 316L stainless steel. The addition of molybdenum enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, particularly in chloride-rich conditions, while the low carbon content improves weldability and minimizes the risk of intergranular corrosion. CF3M is widely used in chemical processing, pharmaceutical equipment, marine applications, and other systems where consistent corrosion performance and long-term durability are essential.
