Overview
CF8 is an austenitic stainless steel casting alloy specified under ASTM A744/A744M, used for general-purpose corrosion-resistant applications. It is the cast equivalent of wrought 304 stainless steel and is valued for its balance of corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and cost-effectiveness. With approximately 18% chromium and 8% nickel, CF8 performs well in mildly corrosive environments including atmospheric exposure, water, and many chemicals. It is widely used for components such as pump casings, valve bodies, flanges, and fittings in industries ranging from food processing and water treatment to chemical handling and general industrial equipment.
