In July of 2013, Alloy Casting Industries installed a state-of-the-art cooling tower to provide critical cooling to our 6 induction melting furnaces. A set of redundant pumps circulate a mix of glycol and water through the furnace coils and componentry which then continues to the new cooling tower. The tower then transfers the surplus heat into the atmosphere using banks of heat sinks and eco-fans pumping the now cool glycol/water mixture back into the system.
The new close-looped system conserves an enormous amount of water compared to the previous system. ACI now saves the equivalent of approximately 31,000,000 water bottles every year! The furnaces now run at a lower and more stable temperature which improves the longevity of the furnaces, thereby reducing maintenance costs.
